Early Morning Ball

Playing an early morning sport can be one of the best ways to get your early morning exercise going. It makes it fun and exciting, plus when you’ve got other teammates counting on you, it gives you that much more motivation.

One of the best early morning sports to get into is basketball. If you live in America where basketball is most popular, chances are it won’t be too hard to find a group of guys that play somewhere. (And if you’re a girl, I guarantee they would be more than happy to include you.)

If you’ve never been a basketball player it can be a little hard to blend in with experienced players. It can be frustrating or even embarrassing sometimes. There are a few basics to basketball that if you were to learn, you would at least be a helpful player on the team.

Passing is one of the most important skills you can have. If all you know how to do is pass the ball, you can still be a great benefit to the team. In order to pass well you need to make sure that you’re always aware of where everyone is on the team. The quicker you can figure out who to pass the ball to, the better. Make sure to pass it to someone who is open.

Shooting is one of the other essential skills you’ll need to be good. To get good at shooting you simply have to practice over and over. Have an experienced player show you how to roll the ball off one hand, rather than shooting with both hands. Practice from different angles and distances. You won’t be perfect, but as long as you can make a good percentage of them, you’ll be able to help out on the team a lot.

Blocking and stealing is also important. When a player is running up the court in your direction, it’s up to you to try to steal the ball from them. You want to be careful not to touch them or you may get a foul call. Practice jabbing for the ball quickly. This can be hard but your team will love you if you’re good at stealing from the other team.

Lastly you absolutely need to learn how to dribble the ball. You have to bounce the ball up and down in one hand while you run or else you’ll get a “traveling” penalty. This takes time and practice as well. Practice moving around and running while you dribble. There are many techniques for dribbling but you need to know the basics before you trying more advanced techniques.

If you can practice and learn these main fundamental skills you’ll fit in as an experienced basketball player in no time. Basketball can be one of the best sports for cardiovascular exercise. If really get into it, not only will it be really fun, but your body will get shaped up quickly. You’ll feel better, look better, and perform better.

Also an in-home treadmill would be a great way to train for all the running up and down the courts! You can get awesome treadmills and sweet discounts at Treadmill Reviews. Check it out!
